Within the main appellation of BARBERA d'ASTI DOC, the excellence of the sub-appellation "NIZZA" has been officially acknowledged and granted to limited number of residents. The "NIZZA" sub-appellation imposes very strict agricultural and enological parameters in order to keep very high quality standards. The number of yields per hectare has to be lower than the one allowed for the Barolo DOCG. The vineyards of Cascina Giovinale are within the "Nizza" sub-appellation; bottles thus labelled are released after over 18 months of cellar ageing representing one of the best expression. |
